After years of working from home, many people are starting to question whether the daily commute is really worth it. On the one hand, returning to the office can help teams and build trust more naturally than on video calls. On the other, it can free time and leave employees feeling worn out before the day has even begun. Some firms have tried to by hybrid schedules, yet these can be harder to pull off than they sound. If meetings are always for those in the room, remote staff may end up being left out of key decisions. Managers, too, are under pressure to keep an eye on performance without as intrusive. Still, as the cost of living goes up, workers are less willing to arrangements that don’t make sense. In the long run, the companies that may be those that focus on results, set clear expectations, and follow through on the promises they make.
